Custodial Lines
In addition to our 135 miles of operating lines, Mass Coastal provides custodial services for MASSDOT, CSX, and the MBTA. Totaling 42 miles of custodial trackage, we provide maintenance of way, dispatch services, and strategic usage planning. Through our partnerships with these organizations, we help to build and support a rail-focused future for Massachusetts.
Framingham Secondary
The Framingham Secondary line branches from The Northeast Corridor at Mansfield, and terminates at Framingham. The Framingham Secondary is owned by MassDOT and operated by our Class 1 partner, CSX Transportation. This line also provides access for the MBTA to Foxboro station. At Medfield Junction, the Framingham Secondary meets with the Mass Coastal Millis Branch Line.
Middleboro Secondary
The Middleboro Secondary begins at Attleboro on The Northeast Corridor. The line runs to Middleboro via Taunton. Owned by MassDOT and utilized by the MBTA, CSX Transporation holds shared trackage rights with Mass Coastal, allowing interchange and service of our customers in Taunton.
